Melissa Whitsitt & Svetlana Ustimenko: 2 Colorado Women Vanish in Days

2 CO Women Vanish in Days

Two women have vanished just weeks apart from a popular Colorado resort area, sparking a massive police search.

Melissa Whitsitt, 34, was reported missing on Aug. 13 after she failed to show up to her job at a resort in Winter Park. Cops say her phone was used by an “unknown male” to make several calls from the Denver area before it was turned off.

On the same day Whitsitt was last seen, police also announced that 55-year-old Svetlana Ustimenko had gone missing just weeks earlier in the Deadhorse Trailhead area of the Arapaho National Forest in nearby Fraser.

Ustimenko’s rental car was found at the Trailhead, but she has not been seen or heard from since.

Authorities say the two cases are not related, but they are both considered “endangered persons.”

Whitsitt’s parents have arrived from Tennessee to join the search for their daughter. “She is a live wire,” her mom said. “You would see her or hear her if she is anywhere out there.”

Meanwhile, the search for Ustimenko has been called off due to a lack of clues.

Anyone with information about either woman is asked to contact the Winter Park Police Department at 970-722-7779.
